So, you’re a girl. You game. You are a girl gamer. Respect? Minimal.

Being a female who gets a great deal of enjoyment when I sit down to play a game on my Xbox, I expect to get just as much respect from fellow gamers, though if you have ever been in a gaming lobby you should know that this would not be the case. As soon as your voice is heard through the microphone you have to prepare yourself for an onset of attacks or abuse, not because you have done something within the game to piss off any other players, but just because you are in fact not male.

Professor Heinz Wolff’s Gravity is an addictive puzzle game for the Nintendo DS, using your skills to get a ball or cart to hit the button; as well as many party games for you to enjoy. You have had games that allow you to look at your dogs but now you can care for your baby. When you first start up the game you adopt your baby, you get to choose its sex and get to change your babies features to what you want your baby to look like. There are a wide range of options for you to change for example the size of the nose you want your child to have. The large amount of editable options makes the game customisable. You then get to meet the baby that you have created, and in terms of audio the sound effects made by the baby in all the activities that you take part in are very realistic. A few barks and the game is done.

The Sims 2 Pets for Nintendo DS allows you to live the life of a veterinarian, diagnosing and caring for the pets around the town. The graphics don’t quite live up to those shown on the case, however EA does attempt to make them as fluid as any other Nintendo DS game. The sounds are the same as what you expect and get from a different Sims game on the PC, so no surprises there. The gameplay begins well, with what seems to be a wide variety of tasks for your Sims to complete, however, as the game progresses the tasks are not quite as challenging as I would hope and the idea of repetition begins to sink in.

I anxiously awaited the arrival of this game; and could not wait to get started. The first thing I had to comment on would be the graphics, very much the basic, simplistic display that you would find on many Nintendo DS games. Though to compare it to the graphics you now see on the Xbox and Playstation 3 would not be right – as you expect or should I say want is this straightforward concept for the Nintendo DS.

The Nintendo DSi is the latest console in the Nintendo DS range, the upgrade from the Nintendo DS Lite. The major changes to the handheld console are the addition of an outward and forward facing camera. Unlike conventional brain games, Big Brain Academy rates its games on brain weight, grades and suitable careers. All the explanations of the game and activities are very well explained and therefore easy to understand; of which makes getting to grips with the game a lot easier.
